Make the transition from Fizbo to Bizbo! You know….BSBO – Been Sold By Owner. Okay, so we made that one up. But we’ve got a feeling you’ll see this acronym in Wikipedia very soon as more and more home owners sell their houses Fizbo. You know….FSBO – For Sale By Owner.
Our Biz-bos hung tough in a tough housing market and got their house sold. Selling your home FSBO is not for the faint of heart but, then again, it isn’t hard either. It just takes persistence and patience. Sometimes it just takes time while your buyer works with their banking institution. Remember, don’t sign a sales agreement with a buyer unless they are pre-approved. If this isn’t possible for you then don’t sign an agreement for more than 30 days. The last thing you want is to tie up your house in a sales agreement while the buyer shops for a mortgage.
These days it takes 3 to 6 months to sell your home. And that’s if it’s priced right so call the appraiser. That’s also the time its taking to sell your home with or without a realtor so don’t get discouraged. There’s a gazillion houses on the market and only a microzillion buyers so your competition is keen. And, believe it or not, there are lots of other houses that are just as nice as yours so you’ve got to be on your toes and your home has got to be spic and span.
Remember, if your house has been on the market 1, 2 or 3 months, before you give up, lower your price and keep trying. That’s what a realtor will eventually tell you to do and then you still have to shell out that 5-6 percent commission. So before you throw up your hands, throw down your price.
